The oil itself is

Emu oil quality varies significantly across the market. Many products use minimally processed or inconsistently refined oil, which can carry impurities, oxidize faster, and perform unevenly on sensitive skin.
Emu Joy sources fully refined, cosmetic and food-grade emu oil, carefully purified to remove impurities while preserving the natural fatty acid profile responsible for its effectiveness. The fat we source consistently ranks among the top 2% nationally, a direct result of how our animals are raised and cared for.
Humanely Raised
Our emus are raised in open pens with constant access to clean feed and water, monitored daily, and processed in state-inspected facilities. The quality of the animal's care is directly reflected in the quality of the oil.
Food-Grade Refining
Fat is harvested from the back fat pad and refined in a food-grade facility to remove unwanted byproducts while keeping the beneficial fatty acid profile intact.
Freshly Produced Annually
Oil oxidizes over time. Our oil is produced fresh each year to ensure maximum purity and potency at the point of use.

Once harvested, emu fat is sent to a food-grade refinery, where it's fully refined and purified before it becomes part of an Emu Joy formula. This process removes unwanted byproducts and creates a clean, stable oil — while preserving the naturally occurring fatty acid profile that makes emu oil distinctive.
Skincare production.
Our oil-based skincare is produced in a dedicated U.S. laboratory that has undergone FDA inspection, follows Good Manufacturing Practices, and operates in accordance with current federal cosmetic requirements. Formulas are made in controlled batches, with ingredients carefully measured, blended, filled, and packaged to support consistency, cleanliness, and product integrity.
Soap production.
Our soaps are handcrafted separately by a small-batch artisan in Montana, cold-pressed using a real concentration of emu oil rather than adding just enough to appear on the ingredient list. Each bar is made to our specifications for a firm, long-lasting soap with a rich, gentle lather.
